- Size
- 400 g · about 80 hours, Ø 9.6 × 10.4 cm
- Vessel
- Slip-cast stoneware from Stoke-on-Trent, fired to 1,240 °C. Glaze: haar, a pale sea-grey celadon. Glazed inside so it can be reused once the candle is finished.
- Wax
- British rapeseed wax and Perthshire beeswax, 70/30 by weight. Undyed.
- Wick
- Flat-braided unbleached cotton, sized to each vessel and burn-tested over twelve four-hour burns.
- Fragrance
- 9% fragrance load, composed with an independent perfumer in London and blended in Edinburgh. Compliant with the IFRA 51st Amendment standards for candles.
- Care
- Trim the wick to 5 mm before every burn. Burn for no more than four hours at a time.
Burning and care
- Trim the wick to about 5 mm (¼ in) before every burn.
- On the first burn, let the melt pool reach the edge of the vessel: about 2½ hours for 220 g, 3½ for 400 g.
- Burn for no more than 4 hours at a time.
- Keep away from draughts, children and pets, on a heat-resistant surface.
- Stop when about 1 cm (½ in) of wax remains.

Fragrance and allergen safety
Contains Linalool, Limonene, Anethole. May produce an allergic reaction.
Never leave a burning candle unattended. Keep out of the reach of children and pets. Burn on a heat-resistant surface, away from draughts and anything that can catch fire. Don’t move the candle while it’s lit or while the wax is liquid. Dispose of contents and container in line with local regulations. If you have a known sensitivity to any of the ingredients above, don’t burn it.

Why Haar smells the way it does
On a warm spring day in Edinburgh the haar can arrive in twenty minutes. A cold sea fog comes up off the Firth of Forth, the castle disappears, and the whole city smells briefly of the coast: salt, wet stone, the green edge of seaweed.
Haar is the coolest thing we make. There’s no marine “ozone” in it, which tends to read as laundry. Instead we built the wet-stone accord from mineral and mossy materials and set it against ambrette seed, which has a faint, skin-like warmth that stops the whole thing feeling cold.
It’s the candle people buy for bathrooms and then move to the bedroom.
