- Candle
- About 80 hours. Slate stoneware vessel, Ø 9.6 × 10.4 cm.
- Box
- Rigid charcoal board with a recycled-pulp insert. Ready to give; add gift wrap and a handwritten note at checkout.
Burning and care
- Trim the wick to about 5 mm (¼ in) before every burn.
- On the first burn, let the melt pool reach the edge of the vessel: about 2½ hours for 220 g, 3½ for 400 g.
- Burn for no more than 4 hours at a time.
- Keep away from draughts, children and pets, on a heat-resistant surface.
- Stop when about 1 cm (½ in) of wax remains.
Delivery and returns
How it travels. In the UK this box holds a jar of safety matches, so it goes by our next-working-day courier (Royal Mail won’t carry matches). Outside the UK it is sent without the matches, and costs a little less.

Fragrance and allergen safety
Contains Eugenol, Limonene, Linalool, Coumarin. May produce an allergic reaction.
Never leave a burning candle unattended. Keep out of the reach of children and pets. Burn on a heat-resistant surface, away from draughts and anything that can catch fire. Don’t move the candle while it’s lit or while the wax is liquid. Dispose of contents and container in line with local regulations. If you have a known sensitivity to any of the ingredients above, don’t burn it.

About The Lamplighter’s Box
This is the box we’d give to someone who’s never owned a good candle, and the one we get asked to wrap most in December.
It holds a Lamplighter 400 g, the trimmer that keeps its wick at 5 mm, the snuffer that puts it out without a curl of smoke across the room, and sixty long matches in a stoneware jar with a striker on the base.
