These terms apply when you buy from Lanthorn Candles Ltd (“we”) on this website. We sell online only; the workshop at 7 Chandler’s Close, Edinburgh, where everything is made, isn’t open to visitors.

Ordering

When you place an order, you are offering to buy the items in your bag. The contract between us is made when your payment is confirmed and we email you the order confirmation. If something goes wrong before then (an item sells out, or a price was shown in error), we will tell you and you won’t be charged.

Prices and currencies

Our prices are set in pounds sterling and shown in six currencies: pounds, euros, US dollars, Canadian dollars, Australian dollars and yen. Your order is charged in the currency of the country it is going to, at the price shown at checkout. Prices in pounds and euros include VAT; prices in the other currencies are shown before local tax.

Tax and import duties

We ship delivered duty paid, so nothing is due on delivery. For orders to the UK and the EU, VAT is included in the price and we pay any import duty. For other destinations, local tax and import duty are calculated at payment and shown before you pay. Delivery and returns explains the rules for each destination.

Payment

Payments are processed by Stripe. We don’t see or store your card details. Your card is charged when you place the order. If your bank asks you to confirm the payment (for example with 3-D Secure), the order is placed once you have.

Delivery

We deliver to the countries listed on Delivery and returns, with the prices and times shown there and at checkout. Safety matches can only be sent within the UK, by courier. Delivery times are estimates; if an order is late, tell us and we will put it right.

Cancellation, returns and faulty items

You can cancel within 14 days of delivery for any reason, and return unused items within 30 days for a refund. Faulty items are always replaced or refunded. The details, and how to return something, are on Delivery and returns. Nothing in these terms affects your statutory rights.

Safety

Follow the care and safety guidance on the label and in our care guide. Never leave a burning candle unattended.

Liability

We are responsible for loss or damage you suffer that is a foreseeable result of our breaking these terms or failing to use reasonable care and skill. We are not responsible for loss that was not foreseeable. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law.

Law

These terms are governed by the law of Scotland, and the Scottish courts have jurisdiction over any dispute arising from them. If you live elsewhere in the UK, you may also bring proceedings in the courts of the part of the UK where you live. If you live in the EU, you keep the protection of the consumer law of the country you live in.
