- Size
- 400 g · about 80 hours, Ø 9.6 × 10.4 cm
- Vessel
- Slip-cast stoneware from Stoke-on-Trent, fired to 1,240 °C. Glaze: peat, a speckled iron brown. Glazed inside so it can be reused once the candle is finished.
- Wax
- British rapeseed wax and Perthshire beeswax, 70/30 by weight. Undyed.
- Wick
- Flat-braided unbleached cotton, sized to each vessel and burn-tested over twelve four-hour burns.
- Fragrance
- 9% fragrance load, composed with an independent perfumer in London and blended in Edinburgh. Compliant with the IFRA 51st Amendment standards for candles.
- Care
- Trim the wick to 5 mm before every burn. Burn for no more than four hours at a time.
Burning and care
- Trim the wick to about 5 mm (¼ in) before every burn.
- On the first burn, let the melt pool reach the edge of the vessel: about 2½ hours for 220 g, 3½ for 400 g.
- Burn for no more than 4 hours at a time.
- Keep away from draughts, children and pets, on a heat-resistant surface.
- Stop when about 1 cm (½ in) of wax remains.

Fragrance and allergen safety
Contains Coumarin, Linalool, Limonene, Eugenol. May produce an allergic reaction.
Never leave a burning candle unattended. Keep out of the reach of children and pets. Burn on a heat-resistant surface, away from draughts and anything that can catch fire. Don’t move the candle while it’s lit or while the wax is liquid. Dispose of contents and container in line with local regulations. If you have a known sensitivity to any of the ingredients above, don’t burn it.

Why Cask smells the way it does
For a long time Leith was full of bonded warehouses, where barrels of whisky and wine sat for years in the dark. Coopers repaired the barrels in the yards outside, and on a cold day the smell of freshly toasted oak drifted down to the Shore.
Cask is the sweetest candle we make, but it isn’t a dessert. Toasted oak and malted barley give it a dry, bready warmth. Dried fig and a little cardamom add the fruit you’d find in a sherry-cask whisky. Tonka and vanilla absolute round it off without tipping it into sugar.
It’s good in a kitchen, better in a sitting room after dinner, and best with the lights low.
